Grand Prix Circuit is one of those games that leave indelible marks in people who have played. You have to pass a qualifying round where you test the circuit alone without competitors before engaging in any race or championship. You can select your car from 3 choices, Ferrari, Mclaren, and Williams, each with information provided about the speed, the engine type, tires, etc. There are a variety of tracks to choose from named after different places which include Brazil, Britain, Germany, Italy, Japan, Monaco, and Detroit. You can either select “Practice Mode”, “Single Race”, or “ Championship”, enter your name, select a difficulty level, and Play.

Soon as the game loads, the game displays a welcome screen that reads “Accolade Presents” followed by the credits and then a picture of a formula 1 racing car. Of course as a dos game, its 2D, but for a game released in 1988, the graphics are good and quite possibly on a league of its own when you compare with games released the same year, or even a few years after. This first-person racing game comes as a mash-up of arcade racing and realism, adding a few twists and challenges in the harder difficulties. One which was ahead of its time is Grand Prix Circuit. Formula 1 games are still a powerhouse in modern gaming, they have stood the test of time since before the 90s with the pixelated imagery and distorted movements.
